MISSION CONTROL
Orbitask is built around a system that connects your biggest long-term ambitions to the daily work that makes them real. Three layers, working together.

THE THREE LAYERS
Most productivity tools start at the task level. Orbitask starts at the vision level, then gives you the structure to work downward. The result is work that always traces back to something that matters.
Your highest-level, longest-range goals. The things that will take months or years. They don't have deadlines. They have gravity. Everything else in Orbitask exists to serve them.
Annual plans broken into four seasons. Each Orbit turns a Moonshot into a concrete year of work. The seasonal structure gives you natural checkpoints: a rhythm for reviewing, refocusing, and moving forward.
Full Kanban boards for any project. A Mission can be a seasonal Orbit board, a standalone project, a client deliverable, or whatever else you need to track. This is where daily execution happens.
LAYER ONE
A Moonshot is a goal so large it doesn't fit neatly into any single project or month. Writing a book. Building a product. Learning a craft. Achieving financial independence. These are the goals that define a season of your life, not a week of it.
In Orbitask, Moonshots live at the top of your workspace. You create them first, before Orbits and Missions, because they're the reason everything else exists. When you're planning a new Orbit or adding a card to a Mission, you can link it back to a Moonshot to stay oriented.

LAYER TWO
A Moonshot can feel paralyzing at full scale. An Orbit breaks it into a year, and a year into four seasons. Each season is its own Mission board, giving you a focused chunk of time with a clear start, a clear end, and a specific set of goals.
Seasons are more human than quarters. Spring feels like a beginning. Winter feels like reflection and preparation. The seasonal rhythm maps naturally to how energy and focus actually shift over a year, and it gives your planning a cadence that's easy to maintain.
TIMESCALE
AN ORBIT IN PRACTICE
Plant new ideas. Set foundations. Begin the push.
Full energy. Deep work. Execute the core plan.
Consolidate gains. Finish what matters. Wind down.
Reflect. Rest. Plan for what comes next.
LAYER THREE
A Mission is a full Kanban board. Columns, cards, priorities, due dates, tags, checklists, and markdown notes: everything you need to actually execute a project, day to day.
Missions don't have to connect to an Orbit. They're equally useful as standalone project boards: a client deliverable, a personal task list, a sprint for a side project. The system is available, not mandatory. Use as much or as little of it as your work requires.

CAPABILITIES
Private by default. Blazing fast. Collaborative when you need it. Try it all without ever creating an account.
No ads, no tracking, no profiling. Your boards are private to you. We don't sell your data or share it with anyone. Export everything as JSON at any time and take it with you.
Invite teammates to any board by email. Collaborators can fully view and edit in real time. Remove access anytime, or make a board publicly viewable with a shareable link.
No account needed to get started. Launch the demo and explore the full app instantly. All data is saved locally in your browser. Create an account whenever you're ready and import your demo data with one click.
No frameworks, no telemetry, no background analytics. Just plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript served directly. Pages load in milliseconds, interactions are immediate, and nothing is phoning home. It feels local because it practically is.
Lose your connection mid-mission? Keep working. Orbitask caches your boards locally and queues any changes you make. The moment you're back online, everything syncs automatically — no data lost, no action required.
THE RECOMMENDED FLOW
You don't have to use all three layers at once. But when you do, this is the order that works best.
Write down your biggest goals. Don't worry about how. Just name what you're working toward over the next year or more.
Create an Orbit for the current year. Link it to a Moonshot. Name each season based on the phase of work you're in.
Open the current season's board and start adding columns and cards. Add any standalone Missions you need alongside it.
Connect cards to Moonshots where it makes sense. Check the Dashboard to see what's overdue, in progress, and coming up.
FLEXIBLE BY DESIGN
BUT ALSO
The system is there when you want it, but Orbitask is a fully capable Kanban tool without any of it. Create a Mission, add your columns, start tracking work. No Orbits required, no Moonshots needed. The layers exist to add structure to ambitious long-range planning; they don't get in the way of simple, fast task management. Use exactly as much of the system as your work calls for.
